MERRIN JOINERY BLOG London Apartment Doors & Windows
Merrin Joinery have been comissioned to replace doors and windows at apartments within Breezers Court, London.
These converted warehouses near to Tower Bridge, have restrictions regarding any replacement joinery, so that the external aspect of the building remains uniform. The buildings are in a conservation area, but we were able to replace single-glazed windows and doors with double-glazed joinery to the satisfaction of the conservation officer, by using narrow plant-on-bars. The top two images show how we matched the narrow glazing bars of the original single-glazed doors,
Although this is a sought after location, there is an issue with traffic noise. We used laminated glass technology in conjunction with double glazed units to provide our clients with a big improvement in accoustic insulation.
The new doors and windows make the apartments more comfortable to live in, whilst maintaining the key architectural features and style of the original joinery.
