The Box Sash Window is a traditional style with 2 or more vertical sliding sashes, characterised with a box frame which has pulleys and weights inside it to counter balance the opening sashes. Originating in the 17^th century, these windows were popular in grand houses and are still a common feature in Georgian & Victorian architecture across the UK.
