If required, Merrin Joinery can advise at an early stage on the staircase's dimensional requirements and compliance with safety and building regulations.

 

The dimensions allowable for a staircase depend on its situation. We will need to know whether the staircase is being commissioned for a domestic or commercial property, before advising on dimensional aspects such as pitch, headroom, and the sizes of treads and risers.

 

The width of gaps in the balustrading should always be less than 100mm. Handrails are normally mandatory, must be positioned at the right height and be suitably strong.
