BENCH HAND JOINER

Skilled Bench Hand Joiner

 

Salary: Starting salary £11 per hour
Standard Hours: 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday - with some flexibility
Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 5GS


Job requirements

 

You are required to be able to manufacture (machine and assemble) bespoke timber doors and windows to a high standard. It is important that you can work on your own initiative.

 

You will also be required to assist with the installation of joinery, which can involve one or two over-night stays in a hotel. We would not expect this to be any more frequent, than monthly. The ability to work as part of a small friendly team is important.

 

We are a small company so you will be expected to contribute by carrying out other reasonable duties as required to assist the business, including maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

 

We operate a strict no smoking policy in and around the premises.
We expect you to have your own tools.

 

This role is for a skilled bench hand joiner. Training in bench hand joinery will not be provided - the successful candidate must already possess the skills, knowledge and experience required to work independently.


Essential Education, training & Experience


• NVQ 2 (or equivalent) in bench joinery, wood machining or similar
• A minimum of 5 years experience of working in a similar environment
• Proficient in the safe use of traditional wood working machinery
• Proficient in the safe use of hand power tools and hand tools
• A full driving licence


Preferred Education, training & Experience


• Recent experience of the manufacture of timber windows and doors.
• Some on-site experience

Merrin Joinery was established in 2000. We are high-end manufacturers and installers of bespoke joinery, with most of our work being for listed buildings or other period properties. We offer products and a service that our clients tell us they struggle to find elsewhere.

Salary: Starting Salary £11 per hour. Paid monthly
We aim to review pay on an annual basis.

 

Standard Hours: 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday
We offer some flexibility and also expect you to be willing to work extra hours when required to meet deadlines or when working on site.


Holiday: 28 paid holidays per year including public holidays.
Bonus one holiday day for each year’s service up to a maximum of 33 days.
